Evan here! Today marks an incredible milestone—39 years since we opened our very first store on Main Street in Markham. I still remember that day so fondly. We poured our hearts and souls into opening our little store, and despite it being the biggest snowfall of the year, 5 or 6 brave customers still came out to support us on opening day. So much has happened since then. Over the years, through countless hours of hard work from so many amazing people, and a bit of luck along the way, we’ve grown into something truly special. I’m incredibly proud of all we’ve accomplished together.
The Village Grocer wouldn’t be what it is today without your unwavering support, and for that, I am deeply grateful. Here’s to the next 39 years—we can’t wait to continue this journey with you!
Evan and Cathy, hearty congratulations on reaching this milestone. As you say, a lot of hard work, long hours and a lot of very early morning trips down to the downtown food terminal to bring us Markhamites the very finest produce available in North America. And through it all, you have not only kept smiling but you have also always been so willing to give back generously to our community and especially to Markham Stouffville Hospital. I agree: here’s to another 39 years!!!!
